Southwestern Illinois Visiting Nurse Association is one of the oldest freestanding not-for-profit home health care agencies in the country. Founded in 1918 to combat the deadly world-wide influenza outbreak, SIVNA is guided by a tradition of personal, clinical and technological excellence. We are dedicated to providing coordinated services, in cooperation with other organizations, to improve and maintain the personal health and safety of all members of our community.


ACCREDITATION


Southwestern Illinois Visiting Nurse Association is accredited by CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Program). CHAP is an independent, non-profit accrediting body for community-based health care organizations. Being accredited means that Southwestern Illinois Visiting Nurse Association meets the quality standards established by CHAP for excellence in health care.

Southwestern Illinois Visiting Nurse Association was awarded a commendation by CHAP in December for exceeding standard requirements. The commendation reads as follows:


"The Organization is commended for identifying and reaching market segments or populations in need of its services, using innovative approaches to meet community needs. This agency provides home health services to patients in its service area. The agency has provided its staff with several pieces of equipment to ease their work and to provide better patient assessment tools. In addition, the agency has other unique programs which are run under the auspices of the agency, some in coordination with state department of public aid and state department of aging. This agency is to be commended for its unique approach to patient care, employee satisfaction, and leadership in providing a broad range of unique services during a time of financial hardship and uncertainty for home care."
